James E. Weger is the president and managing partner of Jones, Gotcher & Bogan pc. Attorneys & Counselors, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Focusing his practice on complex commercial litigation, he represents companies throughout the country in a wide variety of cases, including banking, commercial real estate and construction contractual disputes, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission defense, trademark infringement, securities violations, antitrust and environmental matters, and truest litigation. His clients include major construction companies, banking institutions, insurance companies, real estate brokerages, public educational institutions and media companies. Mr. Weger has also provided defense representation to professionals who are facing errors and omissions liability claims.
As an undergraduate, Mr. Weger attended the University of Oklahoma, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1979. Remaining in Norman, he attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1982. While in law school, Mr. Weger studied abroad at The Queen's College, at the University of Oxford. He is admitted to practice before all Oklahoma state courts. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Western and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Highly regarded by his colleagues, Mr. Weger has received an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. He has also been recognized as a super lawyer since 2006, a top 100 high stakes litigator, and as a top 100 lawyer in America.
Since 1995, Mr. Weger has served as an adjunct settlement judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. A former chairman of the Employment Law Section of the Tulsa County Bar Association, he is a member of the Section of Antitrust Law of the American Bar Association. Mr. Weger has also held leadership positions in various community nonprofit organizations, including the Philbrook Museum of Art, the American cancer society, and the Tulsa Opera. Mr Weger also served on the Oklahoma A.B.L.E.commission for 4 years serving as its chairman in 2020.
