A leader in her field, Ms. Aaby has contributed to continuing legal education texts, and she has conducted lectures and seminars throughout her region on a variety of legal topics related to child custody, visitation and other family law subjects. She has also served as chair of the American Bar Association's Committee on Child Custody, and she is an active member of the Oregon State Bar, the Multnomah Bar Association, Oregon Women Lawyers and Oregon Family Law Practitioners, among her other professional affiliations.

Outside her legal practice, Ms. Aaby volunteers as an attorney with several Oregon State Bar programs as well as with the Volunteer Lawyer Project. She also coaches her local high school's Mock Trial Team.
