Matthew A. Goldberg has spent the last two decades assisting clients in litigation, arbitration, mediation and a wide range of business, commercial real estate and regulatory matters. Serving clients across the state from Lotus Law Group in Lake Oswego, Oregon, he strives to provide a tailored strategy that is designed to address all the legal issues his clients face. In addition to his complex litigation practice, he has represented clients in cannabis cases for over a decade.
Before receiving his Juris Doctor from Lewis & Clark Law School, Mr. Goldberg completed his undergraduate studies in English at Binghamton University, State University of New York. He also holds a master’s degree in professional writing from the University of Massachusetts. He obtained his admission to the Oregon State Bar in 2005 and later also gained licensure to practice law in Washington and New York. He is also licensed to appear before the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, the U.S. District Court for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and the U.S. Tax Court.
Before transitioning to law, Mr. Goldberg had built a career as a journalist, book editor and web entrepreneur, providing him a distinct edge in business, regulatory and commercial real estate law. With his critical questioning and ability to uncover hidden facts in complex regulatory landscapes, his precision with intricate contracts and risk allocation, and his entrepreneurial background, he navigates fast-paced deals and offers practical, business-minded legal advice.
Mr. Goldberg’s position on the executive committee in the Oregon State Bar Cannabis and Psychedelics section demonstrates his cutting-edge legal authority. He translates this high-level regulatory insight into an attentive, client-first practice. Prioritizing clear communication and bespoke guidance, he takes the time to align legal strategy with each client's unique business vision, delivering tailored, accessible counsel that transforms complex industry shifts into confident, actionable commercial solutions.
