Austin B. Batalden is a partner at Morris Stannard & Batalden Family Law PC. She represents clients throughout the greater Portland, Oregon, metropolitan area. Ms. Batalden has been admitted to practice before all Oregon state courts since 2015, and she is additionally admitted to practice in Massachusetts, Nebraska and Minnesota.
Ms. Batalden attended the University of Minnesota for her undergraduate studies. She majored in political science with a minor in Japanese, and she received a Bachelor of Arts in 2005. She then went on to enroll at what was then known as the Hamline University School of Law in Saint Paul, and she was a Presidential Scholar, worked as a mediator in Ramsey County and served as the president of the school’s Jewish Law Students Association before graduating with her Juris Doctor in 2007.
After graduating, Ms. Batalden worked for law firms in Massachusetts and Oregon and had her own practice before being one of the founders of Morris Stannard & Batalden Family Law PC in September 2020. A significant portion of her current caseload is devoted to divorce and related legal issues of alimony, child support, property division, and child custody and visitation. Ms. Batalden assists her clients whose marriages are ending and encourages them to reach a mutually agreeable settlement on those matters whenever possible, she also represents them in court when litigation proves to be necessary. She additionally handles same-sex family law matters, and her experience has extended to order modifications and grandparents’ custody and visitation rights.
