Professional Experience
Jon is a litigator with extensive experience in all aspects of state and federal civil litigation, including trials (jury and non-jury), appeals, mediations, and arbitrations. His practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, appeals, legal ethics, and professional liability defense, among other areas. Jon also has substantial experience managing internal investigations for businesses and public entities.Â
Prior Experience
Prior to joining Cable Huston in 2010, Jon practiced as an attorney at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in New York and Los Angeles. While at O'Melveny, Jon focused his practice on complex civil litigation and appeals, criminal and regulatory investigations, and internal corporate investigations. Prior to his time at O'Melveny, Jon served as a law clerk at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Sacramento, California.
Professional Activities
Jon is the former Chair of Oregon State Bar Legal Ethics Committee and, since 2018, has served as a pro tem judge for the Multnomah County Circuit Court. He currently also serves as a court-appointed arbitrator and a member of the Oregon State Bar Disciplinary Panel, the Uniform Civil Jury Instructions Committee, and as an arbitrator for the Oregon State Bar Fee Dispute Resolution Program.
Jon is also the former Editor-in-Chief of the award winning ABA publication Criminal Litigation. In recognition of his work, the ABA's Litigation Section awarded Jon its 2008-2009 Award for Outstanding Subcommittee Chair and 2006-2007 Award for Outstanding Newsletter Editor.Â
Jon devotes substantial time to pro bono work. He previously served as a supervising attorney for the UCLA Ninth Circuit Appellate Advocacy Clinic and continues to be an active participant in the Ninth Circuit's Pro Bono Program. In 2008, Jon was awarded an Empire State Counsel award by the New York State Bar in recognition of his pro bono work.
