Her time there was marked by a commitment to her clients and a relentless pursuit of favorable outcomes. Her path to becoming an attorney included a valuable stint as a law clerk at the Oregon Department of Justice, where she worked in the Financial Fraud/Consumer Protection section. Ms. Butz’s academic foundation is equally impressive. She earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, with a Business Law Certificate, from Lewis & Clark Law School, where she was a member and notes and comments editor of the Lewis & Clark Law Review and a member of the Jessup International Moot Court Team. 

Prior to law school, Ms. Butz obtained a bachelor's degree in health management and sociology from Saint Louis University, where she was involved in Kappa Alpha Theta and the Women's Club Basketball Team.
