Verdicts / Settlements (Case Results)
- Motorcycle Fatality Settlement- Awarded: $700,000Our client’s husband was killed in a motorcycle accident caused by a careless driver. His underinsured motorist carrier originally denied coverage, based on a policy exclusion, and then offered only half the coverage. Eventually, after extensive insurance policy research and analysis and negotiation, we were able to recover the policy limits for our client, for a total settlement of $700,000.
- Rear-End Accident Results in $260,000 UIM Evaluation In this case, our client was struck from behind by a careless driver. Our client had been disabled by preexisting low back problems for a decade or more prior to the accident, but the accident nevertheless aggravated those problems. Worse, the accident resulted in a neck injury which required surgery. Our client underwent a cervical discectomy and fusion of C5-C6. Our client had about as good a recovery as could be expected following an injury and surgery of this nature, but he was still left with permanent impairment.
- Pedestrian Struck by Car- Awarded: $500,000
- Car Accident Settlement- Awarded: : $545,000 Our client was injured when an oncoming SUV slid across the roadway after a snowstorm resulting in a head-on collision. The claim filed by our client against the at-fault driver settled for $95,000. When our client filed an underinsurance claim, her insurance company initially offered only $25,000. Our client underwent a surgical procedure to implant a spinal cord stimulator in her low back. We filed suit against her insurance company, and the case settled for an additional $450,000. Her claims settled for a total recovery of $545,000.

- Can you still have a personal injury case if you had a pre-existing condition? Attorney Craig Murphey of Purchase George & Murphey, P.C. explains that even if you had a prior injury like a bad back or neck—you may still have a valid claim if an accident aggravated that condition. He notes that medical evidence is used to determine how the crash worsened a pre-existing issue, and that aggravation of a prior condition is still considered a compensable injury in a personal injury case., How do I prove my injuries were caused by the car accident | Purchase George and Murphey, P.C., 2026
