    Attorney Profile

Attorney J. Timothy George is a senior partner with Purchase, George & Murphey, P.C., law firm, which has law offices in Erie, Meadville and North East, Pennsylvania. Nationally recognized as one of the leading trial lawyers in the country, Mr. George provides unmatched legal counsel and support to a diverse range of clients throughout Erie County and beyond who have legal needs involving any of the following:

    ·       Personal injury and wrongful death claims arising from car, truck and motorcycle accidents; medical malpractice; nursing home abuse; and other preventable tragedies

    ·       DUI defense

    ·       Criminal defense for all other types of felonies and misdemeanors

Over the course of his practice, Mr. George has worked with many clients who are simply afraid and need answers to their questions regarding their available options. More often than not, this is the first time his clients have ever had to consult with a lawyer regarding a serious and pressing legal challenge, and he works hard to ensure he addresses their concerns and provides the solid advice on which they can rely to make the best-informed decisions regarding their cases.

A former lawyer in the U.S. Army, Mr. George understands the value of service to others, and he helps his clients prepare for their cases in much the same way he assisted soldiers with preparing for war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Devoted to his clients' success, he aggressively pursues the most favorable outcomes on their behalf, whether inside or outside of the courtroom, and he has achieved a long record of securing successful results for those he has served.

Honored for his professionalism and outstanding legal abilities, Mr. George holds an AV Preeminent peer review rating* from Martindale-Hubbell along with many other top rankings and endorsements from his peers. He is also the recipient of the Erie County Bar Association's President's Award for 2006, and he has received Superb, 10 out of 10 client ratings on Avvo.

A 1989 graduate of St. Bonaventure University in New York, Mr. George obtained his Juris Doctor in 1991 from The Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and he is an active member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers as well as the Erie County Bar Association, where he currently serves as chair of its Judiciary Committee.

Outside his legal practice, Mr. George established the Erie Veterans Free Legal Clinic, which provides free legal services to veterans across his region, and he serves on the board of the Fairview School Foundation. He also coaches youth sports and volunteers with their support programs.
