Karen Ulmer

The founding partner of Karen Ann Ulmer, P.C., in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Karen Ann Ulmer is a relentless and compassionate family law attorney serving the Philadelphia metro area. She has over 25 years of experience litigating and mediating family law matters including complex custody and divorce issues.

Ms. Ulmer's empathy, understanding and drive to assist families through difficult legal situations stem from her personal experience. She stands by her clients’ sides from the time they are considering taking legal action until their case is resolved. She prides herself on her repeat business and the relationship that she has with her clients who are the focus of her work.

Majoring in psychology, Ms. Ulmer completed her Bachelor of Science degree. at Duke University in 1991. During her time there, she was part of the Catholic Student Union and Alpha Phi Omega. She served as the president of the Psychology Majors' Union and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. In 1995, she received her Juris Doctor at Widener University Delaware Law School, where she was a representative of the Student Bar Association. She holds an L.L.M. in securities litigation from Georgetown University Law Center.

Ms. Ulmer believes strongly in community service.  She is currently a Board Member of the Bucks4Kids non-profit which provides funds for foster children.  She also serves as VP of the YWCA Lower Bucks County and previously served on the board for six years, two of which were as President.  She is a co-chair of the Solo Section of the Bucks County Bar Association and is on the Board of the Bucks County Bar Foundation.  As a Young Lawyer, she served in all capacities on the YLD board. She also has been the Regional Coordinator for the High School Mock Trial since 1997.  She has served on the Widener Law (now Delaware Law School) Board for over 20 years.  She previously served on the Peace Center Board and the BCWAC.  She has held numerous positions in her community as a soccer and baseball coach and soccer coordinator. 

Ms. Ulmer's greatest achievement is as a parent.  Ms. Ulmer raised her daughter as a single parent while graduating law school, establishing her firm and continuing to give back to her community, with many years spent as a sole parent. She is also the proud parent of two pre-teen boys who keep her engaged and active.  She attributes all her success to her parents who provide a strong family foundation and devout Catholic upbringing.
