Loreen Burkett has a general practice of law in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, where she has practiced law for 36 years. Her concentration is in the area of family law, encompassing all areas of custody, divorce, support, adoption, dependency and related legal matters. She was appointed by the Lebanon County Court of Common Pleas to serve as both a custody conciliator and Special Master, deciding custody and divorce cases, for over fourteen years. Burkett served as the County's standing Guardian Ad Litem in dependency cases, ensuring that dependent children have adequate representation, a function she performed for twenty-five years. Burkett is both a family law and general mediator and conducts mediations for the Court and in her private practice. She has co-founded a private mediation firm, the first in Lebanon County, Conflict Resolution Associates, LLC. In addition to her private practice, Burkett founded and continues to serve as the instructor for Lebanon County's custody clinic, ensuring that low-income residents have access to custody information. She has written for the PBA Family Lawyer and served on the Council for the PBA's Family Law Section as well as on the Section's Legislative Committee. In 2014, she was appointed Chair of the Adoption and Surrogacy Committee of the Family Law Section, a position she previously held in 2012. From 2015-2016, she was the Family Law Section's liaison to the Children's Rights Committee. She has served as instructor for Continuing Legal Education courses in family law, including speaking on Family Law from A to Z. Burkett is a past President of the Lebanon County Bar Association, where she was responsible for opening the first office in the history of the Bar Association and hiring its first Executive Director. She was named to the Lebanon County Commission for Women in 2010, and served as Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee, recognizing hidden heroes in the local community. In 2018, Burkett was named the Community of Lebanon Business Person of the Year. In 2017, the firm of Weiss Burkett, LLC was voted one of the top five law firms in Lebanon County. Burkett's previous firm, Keys & Burkett was voted as the number one favorite family law attorney in Central Pennsylvania by the readers of Central Penn Parent magazine in 2010. In 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, she was named in the Top One Percent of Attorneys nationally by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel and in 2015 a top attorney in Central Pennsylvania by Susquehanna Style Magazine. Burkett has been a member of the Pennsylvania Council of Mediators since 2013, having completed both general and family mediation training. Burkett is a certified parenting coordinate and collaborative law attorney. She was a long-time member of the House of Delegates, the governing body of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Burkett recently completed a term as President of the Board of Directors of the Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center, a multi-county organization to prevent sexual violence and promote healing. In 2024, she was named to the Lebanon County Commission for Women in the Justice category for her legal accomplishments.
