Verdicts / Settlements (Case Results)
- $2,500,000 - Motorcycle Accident The defendant, a tractor-trailer operator, ran a stop sign and crashed head-on into the plaintiff’s vehicle. The plaintiff suffered multiple life-threatening injuries and required emergency transport via helicopter to the nearest hospital. As a result of the crash, the plaintiff had several feet of her intestines surgically removed and will face long-term consequences from her injuries. The case was settled for the full tender of all available insurance, totaling $2.5 million.
- $10,000,000 - Burn Injury A minor child suffered third-degree burns over more than one-third of her body due to illegally hot water in a bathtub. The landlord failed to install a thermostatic mixing valve—a device designed to prevent scalding—even after repeated warnings from the plumbing company responsible for the building’s maintenance. The child spent several months in intensive care and required multiple surgeries and skin grafts. Ultimately, she was left with disfiguring scars covering large portions of her body. The matter was resolved against all defendants after years of litigation for $10 million.
- $9,500,000 - Quadriplegic Fall Down The plaintiff was exiting his apartment during a fire alarm late at night. Defective lighting conditions caused him to leave the building in near-total darkness. As a result, he fell and suffered a broken neck, resulting in quadriplegia. After years of litigation and with the assistance of nearly a dozen experts, the plaintiff was able to resolve his case for $9.5 million.
- $8,500,000 - Drowning
- $3,000,000 - Motor Vehicle Accident A van carrying workers was driven recklessly by a third-party transportation company. The driver was speeding, and the van rolled over multiple times during an attempted sharp turn. The plaintiff suffered catastrophic fractures to her lower leg and will require a cane to walk for the rest of her life. After several years of litigation and dozens of depositions, her claim was resolved for $3 million.
- $10,500,000 - Delivery Truck Accident A delivery truck driver caused a pile-up on an interstate after missing his exit. The plaintiff, a minor child, was almost killed while seated in the rear of her car when her vehicle was struck at high speed by a pickup truck, which was propelled into her car by the delivery driver. The plaintiff suffered catastrophic injuries, including multiple broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. The case was resolved by settlement for $10.5 million, which provides for accommodations for the remainder of the child’s life.
