Details

An accomplished attorney with 40 years of legal experience, Michael F. Barrett has been representing clients across Pennsylvania who were injured through no fault of their own. He co-founded the law offices of Barrett DeAngelo, LLC to compassionately and efficiently assist clients in matters related to:

·       Medical malpractice: He holds negligent medical professionals and hospitals accountable for drug errors, surgical and ER mistakes, misdiagnosis, anesthesia errors, infections, birth injuries, nursing home abuse and more.

·       Personal injury: He handles personal injury claims caused due to car and motorcycle accidents, truck wrecks, unsafe premises and animal attacks.

After graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981, Mr. Barrett received his Juris Doctor from the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law in 1984. He was admitted to practice in Pennsylvania the same year and later in New Jersey, New York and the District of Columbia.

A fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Mr. Barrett is certified as a civil trial attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Furthermore, he is board-certified as a specialist in civil trial law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He has successfully litigated thousands of cases and procured hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation on behalf of his clients. Some of his latest results include:

·       A $15 million settlement for a failed abortion

·       A $7 million recovery for a nursing home resident

·       A $6.6 million compensation for delayed diagnosis of cancer

In honor of his achievements, Mr. Barrett received the highest possible rating of AV Preeminent* by Martindale-Hubbell. He was listed in the Top 100 Litigation Lawyers in America by Best Lawyers and Philadelphia’s Top-Rated Lawyers of 2014 by Legal Leaders magazine. He was also selected for inclusion in the “Top 100 Litigation Lawyers in Pennsylvania” by the American Society of Legal Advocates and Nation’s Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel.

Several professional associations have honored Mr. Barrett with membership and leadership positions. He was Co-Chair of committees of the Philadelphia Bar Association and served the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association as president,  president-elect, vice president and board member.
