After receiving her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Rutgers University - Camden, Ms. Pierce attended Rutgers School of Law – Camden, where she was awarded her J.D. magna cum laude in 1976. She began her career as a criminal defense attorney with the Defender Association of Philadelphia, representing indigent defendants who had been charged with various criminal offenses. Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California, Ms. Pierce is also admitted to practice before the the U.S. District Courts for the District of New Jersey and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
