Details

Stephen G. Harvey is founder of Steve Harvey Law LLC. He represents and advises clients in civil disputes. His practice extends to all of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with a focus on southeast Pennsylvania and Philadelphia. With over three decades of experience, he takes on litigation and disputes in the following areas: commercial litigation, legal malpractice, financial services, fiduciary duties, business torts, executive employment, intellectual property, fraud, defamation, breach of contract, corporations and limited liability companies, non-competes, trade secrets, and claims under federal and state statutes.

He has handled unique and high stakes cases. In 2005, Steve served as co-lead counsel for the plaintiffs in the landmark “intelligent design” case of Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District. In 2013, Steve represented a child and her family in a successful challenge to national organ transplant policy that enabled his client to receive a new set of lungs and live; the case also resulted in a change to national organ transplant policy. Steve has handled numerous other high stakes litigation matters that have been the subject of media attention.

Steve Harvey graduated in 1982 from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts. In 1989, he graduated cum laude with his Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University School of Law. While in law school, he was a member of the Order of the Coif, a National Moot Court Champion, and the Managing Editor of the Villanova Law Review. He clerked for a federal appellate judge and was selected for the U.S. Department of Justice Honors Program in 1990. He worked in the Federal Programs Branch of the Civil Division of the Department of Justice and then worked as an associate at two large national law firms (Crowell & Moring and Pepper Hamilton) before serving as a partner at Pepper Hamilton for 13 years. He founded Steve Harvey Law in 2013.

Steve is admitted to practice in state courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and many federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 3rd, 7th, 8th, and DC Circuits, as well as federal district courts in Philadelphia and elsewhere.

For his volunteer and charity work, Steve was given the Public Service Award in 2013 by the Villanova University School of Law Alumni Association and was named in 2006 by the ACLU of Pennsylvania as Civil Libertarian of the Year.
