Details

Stephen G. Harvey is founder of Steve Harvey Law LLC. He represents clients in business disputes and, commercial litigation, and advises those with complex problems. His practice extends to all of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with a focus on southeast Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and south and central New Jersey. With over three decades of experience, he takes on litigation and disputes in the following areas: commercial litigation, financial services, fiduciary duties, estates and trusts, executive employment, intellectual property, defamation, professional services, partnerships, closely held companies, non-competes and trade secrets, and claims under federal and state statutes.

He has handled unique and high stakes cases. In 2013, Steve led a team of lawyers from Pepper Hamilton LLP that challenged the federal “Under 12 Rule” of the organ allocation system in federal court. In 2019, he represented an intervenor challenging the validity of “Marsy’s Law,” which would have enshrined in the Pennsylvania constitution various “rights” to be accorded to alleged victims of crime. In 2005, Steve Harvey served as co-lead counsel for the plaintiffs in the landmark “intelligent design” case of Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District.

In 1982, Mr. Harvey graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts. In 1989, he graduated cum laude with his Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law. While in law school, he was a member of the Order of the Coif, a National Moot Court Champion, and the Managing Editor of the Villanova Law Review.

Mr. Harvey is admitted to practice in state courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and many federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 3rd, 7th, 8th, and DC Circuits, as well as federal district courts in Philadelphia and elsewhere.

For his volunteer and charity work, Mr. Harvey was given the Public Service Award in 2013 by the Villanova University School of Law Alumni Association and was named in 2006 by the ACLU of Pennsylvania as Civil Libertarian of the Year.
