Brian Samuel Malkin is an intellectual property (IP) attorney with over 27 years of legal experience. He is a principal attorney at Ference & Associates LLC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and head of the firm’s anticounterfeiting and online brand protection department.Â
Mr. Malkin advises clients on patents, trademarks and other IP matters. He serves clients in cities including Pittsburgh, Altoona, Erie, Harrisburg, Johnstown, Sharon, State College and Williamsport. Experienced with all phases of the litigation process, he has appeared before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as well as state and federal courts. He has also participated in numerous arbitrations and mediations.Â
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Malkin is an e-discovery special master for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He is a former chair of the Allegheny County Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section council and provides pro bono representation in employment and housing cases. Supporting his local community, he is a council member for Franklin Park, Pennsylvania, and former chair of the Franklin Park Environmental Advisory Council and Franklin Park Zoning and Appeals Board.Â
After graduating cum laude from Washington & Jefferson College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics-computer science, Mr. Malkin earned his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He holds a license to practice law before all Pennsylvania state courts as well as various other courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States.
