Brian Samuel Malkin is an intellectual property (IP) attorney with 30 years of legal experience. He is a principal attorney at Ference & Associates LLC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and head of the firm’s anti-counterfeiting and online brand protection department.
Mr. Malkin advises clients on patents, trademarks and other IP matters. He serves clients in Sewickley, Pittsburgh, Altoona, Erie, Harrisburg, Johnstown, Sharon, State College and Williamsport. Experienced with all phases of the litigation process, he has appeared before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as well as state and federal courts. He has also participated in numerous arbitrations and mediations.
After graduating cum laude from Washington & Jefferson College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science (1990), Mr. Malkin earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1993. He is licensed to practice law before all Pennsylvania state courts and various other courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Malkin is a former e-discovery special master for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He is a former chair of the Allegheny County Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section and provides pro bono representation in employment and housing cases. Supporting his local community, he is in his second four-year term as an elected council member for the Borough of Franklin Park, Pennsylvania, and former chair of the Franklin Park Environmental Advisory Council and Franklin Park Zoning and Appeals Board.
