Heather Trostle Smith

As partner at Pollock Begg, attorney Heather Trostle Smith represents clients in family law concerns in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. These include matters of same-sex family law, spousal support, protection from abuse orders, settlement, prenuptial agreements, equitable distribution, divorce, child support, child custody, business valuation, asset protection, adoption, alternative dispute resolution and alimony.

Along with family law, Ms. Smith has experience in personal injury, professional liability and commercial legal matters. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned an undergraduate degree, graduating magna cum laude as she studied political science and English. At Wake Forest University School of Law, she earned her Juris Doctor. While in law school, she earned the Most Outstanding Advocate Award from the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and the Outstanding Law Student Award from the National Association of Women Lawyers.

Ms. Smith is admitted to practice in the state of Pennsylvania and before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. A member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, she served on the legislative committee of the Family Law Section and is a former member of the Allegheny County Bar Association Judiciary Committee. She is also a member of the Family Law Section for the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Using knowledge gained over almost two decades of practicing law, Ms. Smith has taught for the National Business Institute, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. While her background is in litigation, she understands the value of negotiation in family law matters.
