Mr. Perry is respected across Pennsylvania as one of the most active and authoritative lecturers in the areas of medical malpractice and personal injury and is an Adjunct Professor of litigation at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (Named to Who’s Who in Law Higher Education). Mr. Perry has earned a reputation as a champion of victim’s rights and his battle with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare over a recipient’s obligation to repay benefits was named the 2008 case of the year in the State of Pennsylvania. In 2013, Mr. Perry’s battle with an ERISA Plan culminated in a nationally monitored United States Supreme Court decision clarifying victims’ ERISA repayment obligations. Mr. Perry has obtained many of western Pennsylvania’s highest settlements and verdicts including a $32,000,000 verdict, the largest ever in Allegheny County for the death of a child, and as co-chair in a $19,000,000 verdict, the largest ever in Westmoreland County.  Mr. Perry’s trial skills and results have earned him national recognition in numerous editions of Marquis Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, and Who’s Who in the World.

 

In 2023, Mr. Perry was recognized as one of the Top 500 lawyers in the United States and was inducted as a Fellow in the prestigious International Academy of Trial Lawyers.  In 2005 through 2023 he was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer, an honor awarded to the top 5 percent of the attorneys in Pennsylvania. In 2008 through 2023, he was named one of Pittsburgh’s Top 50 Super Lawyers and a Top 100 in Pennsylvania. For decades, Mr. Perry has been included in The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of medical malpractice and personal injury. Mr. Perry was designated 2013 Pittsburgh Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs “Lawyer of the Year” by the Best Lawyers’ in America. In 2015 and then again in 2018, he was designated Pittsburgh Medical Malpractice Lawyer of the Year. In 2008, he was honored with The Duquesne University School of Law’s Outstanding Achievement Award. In 2009, Mr. Perry was honored with Duquesne University’s prestigious Mind, Heart & Spirit award. In 2012, Mr. Perry was honored with the Service to Society Award for career achievement and service from The Pennsylvania State University. In 2013, he received the inaugural Dan Berger Service to Society Award from the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers’ Association and in 2022 he was recipient of the Duquesne Law Public Interest Law Alumni Award.  In 2023, he received the Trial Lawyers Care Award from the American Association of Justice.

Mr. Perry maintains an active litigation practice and has been recognized for numerous multi-million-dollar verdicts. He is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Mr. Perry is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, and the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and its Board of Governors, the Allegheny County Bar Association, and its Gender Equality Committee.

Along with his wife, Joni, Mr. Perry founded Pennies from Heaven, a charity providing economic assistance to financially challenged families to allow parents to stay with children admitted to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. To date, Pennies From Heaven has raised over $3,000,000 and assisted more than 900,000 families.
