Moreover, he represents them in lawsuits involving fraudulent transfers and discharging of debts.
Before commencing his legal journey, Mr. Cooney completed a bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance from The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business. Later, he obtained his doctorate in jurisprudence with a focus on civil litigation from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2014. While studying law, he joined a private boutique firm as a law clerk, where he served for nine-plus years climbing the career ladder to the stature of a reputable attorney. He has also completed a course from the University of Virginia’s National Trial Advocacy College.
Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, Mr. Cooney is also admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the U.S. Tax Court. Being a respected member of the legal community, he is anointed with posts of responsibility at prominent legal associations. He is the secretary of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section and has been on the executive committee for The Judith K. Fitzgerald Western Pennsylvania Bankruptcy American Inn of Court. Furthermore, he imparts his legal acumen to others through lectures at the Annual Bankruptcy Symposium and the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Bench-Bar Conference.
