David C. Schanbacher

David C. Schanbacher is a partner at Blake & Schanbacher Law, LLC, located in York, Pennsylvania. Focusing his practice on all family law matters, including divorce, complex equitable distribution matters, child custody, child support, and prenuptial agreements.  He has more than 36 years of experience serving clients throughout Pennsylvania. 

With a genuine concern for his clients, Mr. Schanbacher is a compassionate, dedicated and empathetic attorney. He is an aggressive and fierce advocate for his clients’ rights and is well aware of how overwhelming it can be for clients dealing with family law issues and the legal process. He keeps his clients informed of every step of their cases and answers all their questions. Prioritizing his clients’ best interests, he handles all cases efficiently and with perseverance.  

Mr. Schanbacher received his doctorate in jurisprudence from the Duquesne University School of Law in 1986. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania. Between 1986 and 1991, he was a special agent with the FBI after graduating from the FBI Academy. 

Actively involved as a member and fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Mr. Schanbacher is a Past-Chair and member of the Council of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Family Law Section as well. He also holds a “Superb” rating on Avvo.  Mr. Schanbacher currently serves on the Board of Managers for the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Mr. Schanbacher is an ardent speaker and regularly gives talks about various family law topics, including the drafting of marital settlement agreements, developing same-sex marriage issues and much more at the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, which is the continuing legal education arm of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.  Mr. Schanbacher is a co-author of all three (3) editions of "Slicing the Pie: Equitable Distribution in Pennsylvania".

Recognized for his impeccable work in the legal field, Mr. Schanbacher has been named to the Top 10 Attorneys list by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys and the 10 Best list by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys. He was included on the Who's Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law lists by Marquis Who's Who. He was also named to the Select Lawyers list by his peers.
