Kensley Barrett

Determined to offer comprehensive legal services to clients, Kensley Barrett co-founded the Marin, Barrett, and Murphy Law Firm, with offices in Cranston, Rhode Island, Charleston, South Carolina, and Woodbridge, Connecticut. Over the past decade, he has been focusing his practice on various attributes of personal injury and criminal defense.

An English graduate from Florida International University, Mr. Barrett had a distinguished career in the U.S. Coast Guard for 11 years, serving the nation with the utmost honor. After leaving the USCG, he attended the University of Connecticut School of Law and earned a law degree with a concentration in insurance litigation and defense. 

During his time in law school, Mr. Barrett was part of the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal and the Connecticut State Attorney’s Office as a student attorney. A civil rights investigator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Boston, Massachusetts, he later joned as an assistant public defender in the Rhode Island Public Defender’s office, handling criminal cases in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Superior Court.

A highly responsive and professional attorney, Mr. Barrett aggressively pursues justice on behalf of victims from all backgrounds. He is well-known for his ability to bring out the weakness in the opposition’s case and using the law to protect his clients’ rights. He is licensed to practice in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Mr. Barrett enjoys networking through various legal associations such as the Rhode Island Bar Foundation, the Thurgood Marshall Legal Society, the National College for DUI Defense and the Rhode Island Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
