Matthew T. Marin is the Founding Partner of Marin & Murphy Law Firm, which he established in 2008. He has been selected to the Rhode Island Super Lawyers list for eleven consecutive years — as a Rising Star from 2014 through 2018, and to the main Super Lawyers list from 2019 through 2024. He is also recognized by the National Trial Lawyers as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer in Rhode Island.

Mr. Marin earned his Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2008, graduating magna cum laude and tenth in his class, with CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in advanced trial advocacy, property, Rhode Island civil procedure, business organizations, and public interest law and ethics. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island and a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts from Clark University.

His constitutional advocacy has produced statewide impact across seventeen years of practice. In 2015, Mr. Marin led a coordinated challenge to Rhode Island's DUI Rights for Motorists form, securing multiple judicial suppression rulings and forcing the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office to revise the form used in every DUI arrest statewide — affecting hundreds of pending cases. Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly named him as leading the challenge in a 2015 feature with his photograph. In State v. Peters (2016), he advanced novel probable cause standards following marijuana decriminalization, presenting the argument before the Rhode Island District Court Prosecutors Association. In 2020, he co-counseled State ex rel. Coventry Police Department v. Charlwood, in which the Rhode Island Supreme Court reversed the District Court and granted record sealing under R.I.G.L. §12-1-12 in an opinion authored by Chief Justice Suttell. That same year, the Washington County Superior Court granted his motion to dismiss drug trafficking charges in State v. DiSalvo, producing three significant holdings expanding the Good Samaritan Overdose Prevention Act. In 2022, his Superior Court victory in State v. Corcoran led to a Rhode Island Supreme Court precedent requiring Miranda warnings during roadside questioning following DUI stops.

Mr. Marin has been the named subject or featured attorney in twelve Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly articles between 2015 and 2022, and has spoken at the Rhode Island District Court Prosecutors Association and the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College for DUI Defense, and the Rhode Island Bar Association, and is admitted to practice in Rhode Island state courts and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Marin & Murphy Law Firm has earned more than 440 five-star Google reviews.
