Matthew Marin

As the co-founder of Marin and Barrett, Inc., Matthew T. Marin works hard to defend those who are facing criminal charges in the Providence and Newport, Rhode Island, areas. He represents clients facing a wide variety of allegations, including violent crimes, drug crimes, drunk driving offenses, sex crimes and weapons crimes, as well as other legal issues. Mr. Marin also handles family law and personal injury matters.

Mr. Marin obtained a Bachelor of Arts and a master’s degree from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration at the University of Rhode Island and a Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and 10th in his class. While in law school, Mr. Marin received CALI awards in the subjects of property, advanced trial advocacy, Rhode Island civil procedure, business organizations, and public interest law and ethics.

While still pursuing his legal education, Mr. Marin worked for the State of Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General, prosecuting probation and bail violation cases in Providence courts. He also prosecuted cases for the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal, successfully obtaining convictions of five defendants charged with refusing breath tests.
