Deborah Miller Tate

Deborah Miller Tate, an attorney at McIntyre Tate LLP, focuses her practice exclusively on family law matters. Working out of the firm's offices in Providence, Rhode Island, her primary emphasis is on divorce and its related legal issues, and in that regard, she provides representation to clients throughout the state whose marriages are coming to an end. Ms. Tate helps people resolve matters such as child custody and visitation, the division of complex assets and debts, and spousal and child support.

In addition to her matrimonial practice, Ms. Tate prepares and reviews prenuptial and cohabitation agreements. Her experience also includes grandparents’ visitation rights and the representation of victims of domestic violence who are seeking protective orders. The quality of her work when handling what are often emotional and stressful matters has led to her AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. In addition, Ms. Tate has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America each year since 2007.

Majoring in accounting, Ms. Tate attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1977. She then enrolled at what was then known as New England School of Law, and she was awarded her law degree in 1981. Ms. Tate also holds an LL.M. in taxation from Boston University School of Law, having obtained that in 1985. Admitted to practice in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Florida, she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit. Ms. Tate is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a member of several other professional organizations and co-author of "A Practical Guide to Divorce in Rhode Island."
