Joshua E. Carlin

With an experience of over 23 years, attorney Joshua E. Carlin defends health care professionals and other individuals against claims of professional liability. Working out of the Providence, Rhode Island, firm Hanson Curran LLP, he concentrates on matters of medical malpractice defense, professional liability and licensing, and business law litigation. He takes on cases from throughout the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Mr. Carlin’s legal acumen and client services are recognized with a “Superb” rating on Avvo and he is also peer-review rated AV Preeminent* through Martindale-Hubbell. Licensed to practice in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts, he is also admitted to appear before all the federal courts in the state and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit.

Experienced in defending medical professionals, Mr. Carlin also uses his skills to help personal injury victims obtain compensation for their loss. In addition, he has tried several business litigation cases resolving even complex matters pertaining to the field. He is trained in the alternative dispute resolution methods of arbitration and mediation, and acts as a consultant for witness preparation and focus group presentation. 

Completing his undergraduate degree from Providence College, Mr. Carlin studied law at the Fordham University School of Law and graduated with his Juris Doctor in 1999. An active part of the legal communities of both states, he has affiliations with several associations, including:
