Focusing her practice on creditors’ rights and other business matters, Lynda L. Laing is a partner at Strauss, Factor, Laing & Lyons. Working out of the firm’s offices in Providence, Rhode Island, she represents clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. Ms. Laing has been admitted to practice before all Rhode Island courts since 1984, and she is also admitted to practice in Michigan and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
Ms. Laing represents creditors in litigation involving collections and bankruptcy. Her experience has encompassed Chapter 7 straight bankruptcy petitions that have been filed by both businesses and consumers, Chapter 11 business reorganizations, and Chapter 13 payment plans. She has also worked on assisting company clients who are owed money by companies that have gone into receivership.
Ms. Laing has also represented secured lenders whose borrowers have gone into default on motor vehicle loans as well as loans for office or construction equipment such as computers or cranes. She helps them recover their losses by pursuing such remedies as repossession or, when the secured collateral is unable to be located, replevin. Ms. Laing’s additional experience has encompassed providing defense representation in general commercial litigation.
