Miriam Weizenbaum is an experienced trial attorney who focuses her practice on high-end personal injury cases, including medical negligence and product liability claims. In 2015 Ms. Weizenbaum and her law partner co-founded the Rhode Island Center for Justice, the state's only public interest law center doing impact litigation on behalf of vulnerable Rhode Islanders.

Ms. Weizenbaum began attending college at the age of 16, earning a bachelor’s degree in social science from Bard College at Simon’s Rock. After graduating, she worked as a community organizer in Louisiana and with Physicians for Social Responsibility in Pennsylvania. She later earned a law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she helped found a clinic designed to help individuals who were denied public benefits.

Following law school, Ms. Weizenbaum worked as an assistant public defender, handling matters ranging from misdemeanors to death penalty cases. She co-founded her current firm in 1995.

Today, Ms. Weizenbaum is admitted to practice in the state courts of Rhode Island and Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.

In addition to her work as a trial attorney, Ms. Weizenbaum is active in professional organizations, including the Rhode Island Bar Association, the American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice.

  • When police responded to a request for a 'well check' for an 18 year old, they stormed his room and shot him nine times.  The young man lived for several years paralyzed and without sight in one eye.  After depositions of the officers, the police chief and town officials the case settled for $7 million., 2015
  • A 49 year old wife and mother presented to an urgent care with classic symptoms of a heart attack but was discharged without appropriate testing and with a diagnosis of reflux.  She died the next day of a heart attack.  A case was brought against the urgent care, its affiliated hospital and the physician.  The case was brought in federal court under the federal EMTALA statute, a claim that survived the urgent care's motion for summary judgment.  The case settled for $3 million., 2017
