Andrew D. Gowdown

A tireless advocate for those whose lives have been turned upside down by the negligence of others, Andrew D. Gowdown represents clients in catastrophic personal injury cases. As a co-managing member of Rosen Hagood in Charleston, South Carolina, Andrew serves clients throughout the state, focusing on complex cases involving traumatic brain injuries, wrongful death, trucking accidents, and products liability, among others. 

Andew has secured substantial recoveries for his clients, including an $11 million settlement for a husband and wife injured in a car collision, a $4.25 million jury verdict in a defamation case, and multiple settlements of $3 million or more in truck accident cases. His track record also includes numerous seven-figure settlements and verdicts across other personal injury, medical malpractice, and products liability matters.* 

His professional excellence has been recognized through inclusion in the South Carolina Super Lawyers list from 2014-2025 for Personal Injury – General: Plaintiff and The Best Lawyers in America® list from 2018-2025 for Personal Injury Litigation, Product Liability Litigation, and Commercial Litigation. Andrew maintains active memberships in numerous professional organizations, including the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, and the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys. He has held leadership roles in several organizations, including serving as the former Chair of the Personal Injury Institute for the International Society of Primerus Law Firms. 

Beyond his legal practice, Andrew is deeply committed to community service. He currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Association of South Carolina. He is also a former member of the Charleston Volunteers for Literacy Board of Directors.  

Andrew graduated from Miami University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1998, where he served as Editor in Chief of the University of Dayton Law Review. He is licensed to practice in South Carolina and admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Before joining Rosen Hagood, Andrew served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Margaret B. Seymour, United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.
