Jerry N. Theos, the founder of Theos Law Firm, LLC, has over four decades of legal experience and a profound grasp of human dynamics in family law, criminal defense and personal injury cases. Mr. Theos is an alumnus of The Citadel and Clemson University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English. He then pursued his legal education at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctor in 1982. He is licensed to practice law in South Carolina. He is admitted to practice in all courts of South Carolina, including the Supreme Court of South Carolina, the South Carolina Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.

Before entering private practice in 1985, Mr. Theos worked as a deputy public defender for Charleston County for about two years. He is certified by the Supreme Court of South Carolina to act as lead counsel in death penalty cases and death penalty post-conviction relief proceedings. In addition to teaching at the Charleston School of Law and the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law, he has spoken at seminars all around South Carolina.

For Mr. Theos, it’s crucial to network with other professionals. Thus, he actively participates in a number of relevant organizations such as the Family Law and Criminal Law Sections of the South Carolina Bar, the American Bar Association, the Charleston County Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the South Carolina Association for Justice.
