A Bachelor of Arts graduate of Wofford College, Mr. Linton completed his legal education at the University of South Carolina. He was admitted to practice in South Carolina in 1975, and later, before its federal courts, the Supreme Court of the United States and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. Early in his career, he served as a law clerk to Justice Julius B. Ness of the South Carolina Supreme Court.
Mr. Linton applies his exceptional problem-solving skills to assist clients with business and fiduciary administration matters. He has also secured favorable results for plaintiffs in serious personal injury cases. His colleagues and courts frequently request his services as a mediator, arbitrator or special referee for alternative dispute resolution. Additionally, he has successfully presided over both jury and nonjury trials in various counties across South Carolina and in five divisions of the U.S. District Court.
A proud fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Mr. Linton is a past member of its State Committee. He is the former president of the Charleston County Bar Association and the American Board of Trial Advocates – Coastal Chapter. Having been appointed by the South Carolina Supreme Court, he served as a South Carolina Bar examiner and as a member of its Grievance Committee. In addition, the U.S. District Court bestowed upon him the honor of serving on a committee tasked with reviewing a magistrate judge's qualifications for reappointment.
