Kelley Young

A partner at Young & Young, Attorneys at Law, Kelley Young divides her practice between criminal defense, personal injury and wrongful death litigation. Located in Charleston, South Carolina, her clients are based throughout the area as well as in the state's Lowcountry region where she grew up, and she is admitted to practice before all South Carolina state courts.

In her criminal defense practice, Mrs. Young assists people who have been accused by the state of having committed misdemeanor or felony offenses. The types of charges that her clients have faced have included burglary, assault, robbery, theft, driving under the influence of alcohol, weapons violations, and drug possession and trafficking. Mrs. Young has been able to obtain positive results in many of these cases, including dismissals, bench or jury acquittals, and the negotiation of favorable plea agreements with the prosecution. Her prior experience as both an assistant prosecutor and a magistrate has enabled her to anticipate the types of tactics that are often employed against her defendant clients.

Her personal injury experience involves the representation of clients who have suffered economic and noneconomic harm due to the negligence or recklessness of other persons or entities. These cases have arisen out of incidents involving truck and other motor vehicle crashes, dog bites premises liability, and medical malpractice, and her track record in this regard includes the obtaining of several sizable jury awards and negotiated settlements.

Mrs. Young is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she majored in business management and received a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in 2008. She then went on to pursue her legal education at the University of Miami School of Law, and she was awarded her Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 2011.
