Thomas J. Wills, IV

Thomas J. Wills IV has been a member of Wills Massalon & Allen LLC since 1984. Located in Charleston, South Carolina, and representing business and individual clients throughout the greater metropolitan area, his practice encompasses business transactions and general civil litigation. In addition to being a forceful courtroom advocate, Mr. Wills has been certified in both mediation and arbitration, and he often puts that training to use in helping some of his clients reach an accord through those methods of alternative dispute resolution. Admitted to practice before all South Carolina state courts, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.

The types of cases that Mr. Wills has worked on during his career have included bad faith and other insurance coverage issues, professional malpractice, partnership and shareholder disputes, and personal injury and wrongful death litigation, among others. His successful track record in all of these endeavors has earned him the high regard of his fellow members of the bar, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. In addition, Mr. Wills has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America on several occasions.

A former president of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association, Mr. Wills has also served as the president of the Charleston Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. His other memberships have included the Federal Bar Association, the Trial and Appellate Advocacy Section of the South Carolina Bar, and the James L. Petigru Inn of Court. A 1974 graduate of the University of Georgia, Mr. Wills received his Juris Doctor in 1979 from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
