A highly regarded civil litigator, William E. Applegate IV is a co-founder of Charleston, South Carolina-based Yarborough Applegate Law Firm, LLC, and he has a broad range of experience in his representation of clients throughout the area. In his personal injury and wrongful death practice, Mr. Applegate seeks compensation for people who have been harmed by the negligence of other parties in cases arising out of motor vehicle accidents, construction and other workplace accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability and defective products. He has been able to obtain sizable settlements and jury awards on behalf of his plaintiff clients, including a $4.25 million settlement for a construction worker who sustained a traumatic brain injury through the negligence of a subcontractor and a $35.9 million jury award for a construction worker who became paralyzed as a result of a work accident.

Mr. Applegate has also represented injured railroad workers in cases proceeding under the Federal Employers Liability Act, as well as maritime workers in Jones Act litigation. His civil litigation experience extends to shareholder derivative lawsuits in cases involving breach of fiduciary duty and similar matters, and he has handled consumer fraud class actions. Mr. Applegate received a Bachelor of Arts from College of Charleston in 1997, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor by the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2002. After graduation, Mr. Applegate clerked for a judge on South Carolina's 5th Judicial Circuit before entering private practice. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina.
