J. Clarke Newton

J. Clarke Newton is a dedicated partner at Bluestein Attorneys, located in Columbia, South Carolina, where he passionately represents clients across a wide spectrum of legal matters. His primary focus includes criminal defense, medical malpractice, wrongful death claims and cases involving motorcycle accidents, large truck collisions and general personal injury. With a strong belief in client-centered advocacy, he brings empathy and strategic insight to each individual he serves, treating every client as a person rather than a case file.

A South Carolina Bar member since 2009, Mr. Newton earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law, following a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Florida. During law school, he demonstrated leadership and commitment by co-chairing the Protecting Our Youth Committee through the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyer’s Division. He was also selected to participate in the South Carolina Bar Leadership Academy in 2013, further refining his ability to guide and serve the legal community.

Recognized for professional excellence, Mr. Newton was honored by Columbia Business Monthly as a Legal Elite of the Midlands in 2017. Beyond legal accolades, he remains deeply rooted in community initiatives. He participated in Brookland-Cayce High School’s Community Advocate Membership Program and has continuously volunteered with the Saturday Baseball League since 2005, promoting youth engagement and development.

Additionally, Mr. Newton contributes his time and energy as a board member of Trinity Learning Center, further exemplifying his commitment to positive change beyond the courtroom.
