Luke A. Shealey

A partner at Shealey Law Firm, Luke A. Shealey brings invaluable knowledge in matters of criminal defense, personal injury, DUI and qui tam/ whistleblower cases. His past service as a public defender makes him an aggressive attorney for his clients. Mr. Shealey offers powerful representation with his extensive courtroom experience, and handles cases in Columbia, SC and throughout the state. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in South Carolina and The United States Supreme Court. In addition to his trial work, he has also argued cases before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. 

Mr. Shealey was a member of the Student Bar Association during his time at New England Law | Boston. He started his educational experience with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina and later graduated law school from the New England School of Law. He would later further his intensive criminal defense training by graduating from the National Criminal Defense College. He also received additional training in death penalty jury selection from the Colorado School of Law and death penalty defense from the Santa Clara University School of Law. He frequently lectures on criminal defense topics and in the area of South Carolina immunity and "Stand Your Ground" law.

Indigent clients accused of serious crimes were his focus during his time as an assistant public defender. He represented clients in cases of kidnapping, driving under the influence, domestic violence, assault and murder. In 2015, Mr. Shealey was appointed to represent his first death penalty case, securing a life sentence for the client and saving him from execution.

Trained in death penalty defense, he understands the challenges for clients facing serious charges, and regularly earns exceptional results. Mr. Shealey is a tireless advocate for justice, and believes that clients have a right to be represented by someone with their best interests in mind, regardless of the challenges they are facing.
