Matthew A. Nickles

Matthew A. Nickles is an associate attorney at Rogers, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman, LLC, in Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Nickles focuses his practice on personal injury law, representing plaintiffs throughout South Carolina in cases involving medical malpractice, pharmacy liability, products liability, class actions, mass torts, as well as general personal injury.

Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Nickles helped his clients to recover substantial settlements or verdicts, often in complex and emotionally difficult cases. One such case involved a child with developmental disabilities who died after being prescribed a fatal dose of a medication. He is committed to meeting the needs of his clients and pursuing justice after a catastrophic injury.

In recognition of his legal achievements and professional success, the Columbia Business Monthly included Mr. Nickles on its “legal elite of the Midlands” list in 2017. He enjoys participating in his legal community and is an active member of the South Carolina Bar.

Mr. Nickles graduated magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history. He received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, graduating cum laude. He gained legal experience while attending law school by interning for a South Carolina federal judge and at Rogers, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman, LLC.

After law school, Mr. Nickles practiced at a South Carolina defense firm and clerked for a judge before joining Rogers, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman, LLC. He holds a license to practice law before all South Carolina state courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.
