Robert F. Goings is the founder of the litigation firm, Goings Law Firm, LLC, located in Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Goings is a trial lawyer, and have successfully tried many cases to verdict in both federal and state courts. Mr. Goings has successfully obtained multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients. Mr. Goings is the youngest member of the South Carolina Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a distinguished organization of top trial attorneys throughout the nation.
Devoting his practice exclusively to civil litigation, he represents clients throughout South Carolina in matters involving products liability, workers' compensation, trucking litigation, medical malpractice, construction defects, employment law, business disputes and personal injury. A native of South Carolina, Mr. Goings has received widespread respect from his peers during his legal practice, signified by his award of an AV-Preeminent* rating from Martindale-Hubbell and his designation in 2011 as an "Emerging Legal Leader" by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. He has received other awards such as Top 100 Trial Attorney and Top 40 under 40 by distinquish national trial organizations.
A 2003 summa cum laude graduate of Wofford College, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and was elected student body president, Mr. Goings attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2006 and served as an editor for the Southeastern Environmental Law Journal. After graduation, Mr. Goings practiced as an associate at a Columbia litigation firm before founding Goings Law Firm, LLC. Admitted to practice in South Carolina, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 4th and Federal Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Helping to establish policy for the South Carolina Bar as a member of its House of Delegates, Mr. Goings seeks to keep current on events in his practice areas through his active participation in the American and Richland County bar associations. He stays involved in his community as a member of the Rotary Club of Columbia. He is a member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church.
