Josh Smith

An attorney with Smith Hudson Law, LLC, Josh Smith represents clients throughout the state of South Carolina in business litigation, employment law cases, and trade secret and unfair competition suits in both state and federal courts. He has extensive experience representing clients in all stages of the litigation process from filing initial pleadings, to trial, and on any subsequent appeal. With a solid understanding of the businesses his clients own and run, Josh provides intelligent, informed, and cost-effective solutions to the complex legal issues that businesses face in the modern marketplace.

Mr. Smith attended Clemson University, graduating with honors earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law receiving his Juris Doctorate in 2008.  Mr. Smith immediately began practicing law in 2008 and is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of South Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

A member of the Greenville Bar Association, he is actively involved with the South Carolina Bar, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association and the Haynsworth/Perry Inn of Court. An active member of his community who is passionate about giving back and improving the local areas, he serves as chair of the board for TreesUpstate, a local nonprofit, and is also a board member for the Metropolitan Arts Council.

Greensville Business Magazine named him the Legal Elite of the Upstate in several practice areas since 2014, including Business Litigation, Employment Law, and Environmental Law. Mr. Smith has also been recognized as one of America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators and America's Top 100 Bet-the-Company Litigators.
