Christopher A. Skipper

Christopher A. Skipper is the sole practitioner at Skipper Law Firm LLC in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Focusing on Criminal, DUI and Traffic defense in federal, state, magistrate and municipal courts, Chris relies on his Twenty-Eight years of experience throughout the criminal justice system to achieve positive resolutions for his clients.  His experience includes service as an Assistant Solicitor in Berkeley and Charleston Counties, City Prosecutor for Isle of Palms, Municipal Judge for Folly Beach and Isle of Palms and Twenty years in private practice.  His vast experience provides a unique perspective in the evaluation of his clients' individual situation and formulation of strategy for success.  His career in the legal profession in the Lowcountry of South Carolina began in 1990 when he went to work for a group of attorneys on Broad Street upon arrival for college.

Additionally, Mr. Skipper brings considerable proficiency to workers' compensation and personal injury law.  He practiced workers' compensation insurance defense with a large, regional defense form just prior to establishing Skipper Law Firm LLC and regularly appears before the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission.  His tenure as an insurance company attorney gave him invaluable insights into their claim handling process which assists in his pursuit of positive resolutions for his clients.

A graduate of the College of Charleston, Mr. Skipper received his Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1993. He then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor in 1996. Admitted to the South Carolina Bar the same year, he is also duly authorized to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.

Upon completing his legal education, Mr. Skipper returned to the Lowcountry, commencing his professional career as an assistant solicitor in the Berkeley County Solicitor's Office. Subsequently, he dedicated four years to prosecuting cases within the Charleston County Solicitor's Office. Over his six-year tenure as a prosecutor, he successfully navigated various cases, ranging from driving under suspension to murder.

Mr. Skipper currently serves as Judge for the Municipal Court of the City of Folly Beach and Associate Judge for the City of Isle of Palms. His multifaceted experience equips him with a profound understanding of legal matters, allowing him to efficiently evaluate each case from the nuanced perspectives of a defense lawyer, prosecutor and judge. 

In addition to his judicial roles, Mr. Skipper has actively contributed to the betterment of the community through various avenues of community service. His involvement on the College of Charleston Alumni Association Board and the College of Charleston Cougar Club Board demonstrates his dedication to fostering educational and alumni relations. Furthermore, his prior volunteer coaching engagement with Mt. Pleasant Recreation Department highlights his commitment to youth development and community engagement. 

He lives in Mt. Pleasant with his wife and children.
