Maria Averill

The founder of Averill Law Firm, LLC, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Maria Averill is a reputed trial attorney with more than seven years of experience. Focusing her practice on family law, she provides exceptional counsel and guidance to the citizens of South Carolina and assists them in a wide range of matters, including divorce, child custody, guardianship, adoptions and paternity establishment. She also tends to issues requiring estate planning, wills and trusts.

A graduate of Pepperdine University, Ms. Averill earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and later a Master of Arts degree in marriage and family therapy and graduated summa cum laude. Later, she attended the Charleston School of Law to pursue law studies and obtained a Juris Doctor degree. She received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for excelling in family law and legal research and writing subjects. She was also the recipient of the Pro Bono Award for dedicating more than 100 hours to helping the indigent with their legal issues.

With a strong educational foundation, Ms. Averill started her practice in the state in 2016, and since then, she has appeared in federal, state and family courts across the state. Her intricate understanding of psychology proves invaluable, particularly in empathetically addressing her clients’ emotions and concerns throughout the legal process.
