Mark C. Tanenbaum

Mark Tanenbaum is a personal injury attorney in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, with over 45 years of legal experience. The founder of the law office Mark C. Tanenbaum, P.A., he helps the injured and their families in cases involving catastrophic injury due to medical malpractice, car accidents, products liability and other issues. He represents clients in throughout the Lowcountry and the State of South Carolina.

Mr. Tanenbaum’s accomplishments have earned him recognition as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, the highest recognition a trial lawyer can achieve. He has also received an AV Preeminent* peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the organization’s highest available rating. He has also been listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” as well as Super Lawyers, having been among listed as among the Top 10 Lawyers in South Carolina by Super Lawyers for over 10 years.  

Active in his professional community, Mr. Tanenbaum as State Chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers, past president of the Charleston Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, past president of the Charleston County Bar Association, a member of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, a member of the House of Delegates of South Carolina Bar, a member of the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Association for Justice, and listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. 

Mr. Tanenbaum graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Art degree. He went on to receive his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is licensed to practice law before all South Carolina state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has appeared Pro Hac Vice in courts across the country. 

Earlier in his legal career, Mr. Tanenbaum helped found the Charleston County Public Defender’s Office, served as served as an Assistant Public Defender, and practiced for five years at private firm, Gibbs Gaillard Rowell & Tanenbaum. He opened his own law practice in 1980.
