He is licensed to practice law before all South Carolina state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Earlier in his legal career, Mr. Tanenbaum served as an assistant public defender for the Charleston County Public Defender’s Office and practiced for five years at private firm. He opened his own law practice in 1980.
