Christopher A. Wellborn

Christopher A. Wellborn is the principal attorney and owner of his eponymous law firm located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. With more than three decades of targeted law practice, he is dedicated to serving people throughout South Carolina, concentrating on the field of criminal defense. He helps his clients tackle legal issues related to:

• DUI/DWI
• Federal crimes
• Sex crimes
• Drug offenses
• White collar crimes
• Felony charges

Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1983 from Bates College, in Maine, Mr. Wellborn enrolled for his law studies at the University of San Diego School of Law, in California. He graduated with a doctorate in jurisprudence in 1988 and obtained the license to practice law in South Carolina in 1989. 

For nearly a decade before establishing Christopher A. Wellborn, P.A., in 1997, Mr. Wellborn focused exclusively on criminal law and prosecuted crimes ranging from petty thefts and DUI to first-degree murder at the York County courts. This experience working on the other side has been an added advantage in understanding the thought process of his opponents, which allows him to strategize his moves accordingly. 

Mr. Wellborn presently defends his clients including juveniles against charges of misdemeanor and violent crimes before the federal courts of South Carolina and the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. Actively affiliated with several prestigious legal organizations, he serves important positions in them including:

• National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers – President, Task Force on Restoration of Rights, Public Defense Committee, Mental Health Committee
• South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers – Past President, Founding member
• York County Bar Association – Past President

In recognition of his merits in the field of law, Mr. Wellborn has received several honors in his name. He is the recipient of the President’s Award given by the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ Champion of Justice Award and the Robert C.
