A leader in his legal community, Mr. Brewers is one of only three attorneys in the state recognized as fellows by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He also serves on the organization's Committee on Professionalism and Collegiality and its National Test Committee, and he has served as treasurer of the association's Central States Chapter.

He has also served as Commissioner of the South Dakota State Bar Association and Chairman of its Pattern Jury Instruction Committee, and he is a currently member of the organization's Committee for Alternative Dispute Resolution and Family Law.
