James L. Widrig

With nearly 20 years of experience in the legal field, James L. Widrig has brought to the Tennessee legal community a tenacious advocate who makes it a point to get his clients out of challenging situations and onto better prospects. At Widrig Law PLLC he provides adept services across Middle Tennessee in legal matters such as contested or uncontested divorce, alimony and spousal support, adoptions, paternity and child support and custody, among many other family law issues. 

Mr. Widrig completed his undergraduate studies at Carson-Newman College in 2002, graduating with his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. He then went on to enroll at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he was included in the dean’s list for four semesters. He received his Juris Doctor in 2005, and a year later, obtained his license to practice in Tennessee. 

Through his unrelenting work ethic and an intense dedication to seeing his clients firmly leave their legal problems in the past, Mr. Widrig has gained the adulation of his peers for promoting the ideals of a pristine, client-centric practice. He was publicly voted one of the Best Lawyers in Nashville by the Nashville Scene, acknowledged by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys in their Top 10 Family Law Attorneys Under 40 list and recognized in the 10 Best Under 40 list by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys. In addition, he is rated “Excellent” on Avvo and is included in the 10 Best list by the American Institute of Legal Counsel. 

Within his legal community, Mr. Widrig maintained affiliations with prominent legal organizations, including the Tennessee Bar Association, the Tennessee Association for Justice, the Nashville Bar Association, the Rutherford & Cannon County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, the Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court.
