Eric L. Buchanan

Eric L. Buchanan has built a notable career representing disabled individuals and policyholders across the nation in both ERISA and non-ERISA disputes. At Eric Buchanan & Associates, PLLC, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, his practice is centered around disability insurance, long-term disability (LTD), and life and health insurance cases. He also handles ERISA benefits claims, Unum disability claim denials and addresses bad faith insurance claims.
Mr. Buchanan's academic background is distinguished, having graduated magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University School of Law, ranking in the top 10% of his class. He was inducted into the Order of the Coif and the Omicron Delta Kappa honorary leadership fraternity during his studies. Before embarking on his legal career, he graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and served as a U.S. Navy officer, where he was recognized with a Navy Achievement Medal for his service.

Mr. Buchanan has held significant leadership roles in several organizations. He served as the president of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA) from 2015 to 2016. His leadership further extends to the American Association for Justice (AAJ) where he chaired the Social Security Disability Section from 2007 to 2008, and the ERISA Health and Disability Litigation Group from 2006 to 2007. He has also led the Tennessee Bar Association Disability Section and was president of the Chattanooga Trial Lawyers Association.
Regularly contributing to national conferences, Mr. Buchanan shares his insights at events such as the National Organization of Social Security Representatives (NOSSCR) - National Disability Conference, the AAJ Social Security Disability Conference and the American Conference Institute (ACI) annual disability insurance seminar.
