Representative Clients:

  • I currently represent a defendant originally charged in a gang RICO conspiracy that includes 3 first-degree murder counts, one murder of which the state of Tennessee is seeking the death penalty. I, in conjuction with co-defendant attorneys, successfully fought the gang RICO conspiracy counts through pre-trial motions, which led to a dismissal by the Court. This was the first case brought in the State of Tennessee under the legal theory that a gang could be prosecuted under the Tennessee RICO statute. The 3 murder counts remain pending., 2020

  • Most of my clients are charged with violent and serious crimes. Many of my clients have been subjected to high media coverage and may be found on the internet. As a sample, I represented Reginald Woods who was charged with murder and firearm charges in Hamilton County Tennessee. After a week long jury trial, Mr Woods was found Not Guilty of Murder and all firearm charges.

Other Outstanding Achievements:

  • Lead 53 other lawyers in defending a state prosecution under Tennessee's RICO Gang Statute and through pre-trial motions the RICO case was dismissed.
  • In US v Ferreira, 665 F3d 701(6th Cir. 2011), I successfully won an appeal including a reversal and remand for dismissal with prejudice. This case changed the constitutional law on speedy trial claims within the Sixth Circuit and remains good law today., 2011
