M. Stuart Saylor is a partner at Fort, Holloway, & Saylor, LLC, in Franklin, Tennessee, where he focuses his practice on family law, criminal defense, orders of protection, guardianships and conservatorships. A Franklin native, he is dedicated to serving individuals and families throughout Middle Tennessee with responsive, client-centered representation.
A significant portion of Mr. Saylor’s practice involves family law matters, including divorce, child custody disputes, parenting plans, child support, alimony and the division of marital assets. He also represents clients in post-divorce matters such as custody and parenting plan modifications, child support adjustments and changes to spousal support arrangements.
Understanding that family law disputes can be deeply personal and emotionally difficult, Mr. Saylor works closely with his clients to set realistic objectives and develop strategies designed to reach effective outcomes. While many family law matters resolve outside the courtroom, he remains fully prepared to advocate for his clients at trial when litigation becomes necessary.
Mr. Saylor approaches each case with the mindset of a trial lawyer, carefully preparing matters for court while also recognizing when negotiation can lead to an efficient and favorable resolution. His goal is to provide practical guidance and strong advocacy while helping clients navigate challenging legal situations with confidence.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Saylor served on active duty in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps, where he worked as both a prosecutor and defense attorney. During his service, he litigated numerous criminal trials and gained extensive courtroom experience. In 2014, he deployed to Afghanistan, serving as the senior legal adviser to a Special Operations Task Force. That experience strengthened his ability to analyze complex legal issues and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
Mr. Saylor earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science, summa cum laude, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Tennessee College of Law with a concentration in advocacy and dispute resolution. He is admitted to practice in all Tennessee state courts and several military appellate courts, and he is an active member of professional legal organizations.
