Marcos M. Garza

The founder of his own law firm based in Knoxville, Tennessee, Marcos M. Garza divides his practice between criminal defense matters and personal injury and wrongful death litigation. His successes in both of these areas, as well as his high degree of ethics, have gained Mr. Garza the respect of his colleagues. In his criminal defense practice, Mr. Garza provides representation to area residents who have been charged by the state or federal government with misdemeanors or felonies. The types of matters that he has handled have included operating a motor vehicle or boat while under the influence of alcohol, rape, drug possession and trafficking, carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, and murder. Mr. Garza's federal experience has encompassed bank, mail and wire fraud, money laundering, racketeering, and tax evasion. He has in many cases been able to obtain outright acquittals, while in others, he has negotiated favorable plea agreements with the prosecution. Mr. Garza also assists people who have been harmed by the negligence of other parties. His experience in this regard has included incidents arising out of medical malpractice, truck and other motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and defective products.

Mr. Garza holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Vanderbilt University. After obtaining a Master of Science in social work from The University of Tennessee in 1998, he remained in Knoxville to pursue his legal education at the University of Tennessee College of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2001. Admitted to practice in Tennessee, Mr. Garza is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eastern District of Tennessee and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.
