He is an active member of the American Association for Justice, and he has also served as chair of the American Association for Justice's Admiralty Law Section, as well as president and board of governors member of the Tennessee Association for Justice.

A 1971 honors graduate of the University of Tennessee, Mr. Bloomfield returned to his alma mater and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1974. He is admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in Tennessee and Kentucky, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi, the Eastern District of Arkansas, the Eastern District of Missouri, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th and 11th Circuits.
