S. Newton Anderson

Newton Anderson is the office managing member of Spicer Rudstrom’s Memphis location. He also serves as the Chair of the firm’s Employment Law practice area. His practice handling various types of civil cases has taken him to all state and federal courts in West Tennessee and occasionally beyond. He advises corporate clients on business matters and has represented clients in landlord-tenant and other commercial real estate matters for more than 30 years. He has received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is a member of the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance.

Newt focuses his practice in insurance defense, employment/workers’ compensation, premises liability and commercial landlord tenant work. 

Newton received his higher education degrees from the University of Memphis. He was awarded a J.D. degree in 1981 from the university’s Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where he was a member of Law Review and participated in Moot Court. Prior to entering private practice in 1982, he served as a Law Clerk for two judges of the Circuit Court of Shelby County. A firm believer in the benefits of mediation and other methods of alternate dispute resolution in appropriate cases, Newton took the required course of study and became a Tennessee Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator in 2005.
